Second Grade Bike Safety Day

Second Grade Bike Safety Day is May 20th!

On Tuesday, May 20th, the second graders will be participating in a bike safety event during the school day at McKenzie. Please have your child ride or bring their bicycle and helmet to school that day. If their bike will be locked at the bike rack, please make sure they know how to use the lock. This event is a 30 minute safety briefing and short bicycle course ride-through on the McKenzie blacktop that will go over proper ways to stop, look, and be aware of surroundings when on their bikes. If your child does not know how to ride a bike they can bring a scooter. If neither are brought on that day your child will still participate as a pedestrian on the course.

To help this go smoothly, we need 4 parents from each class to assist as on-course helpers. The scheduled time for each 2nd grade class is as follows:

  • 8:45–9:15 - Ms. Lowe

  • 9:15–9:45 - Ms. Tyndorf

  • 9:45–10:15 - Ms. Mooney

  • 10:15–10:45 - Mrs. Wilutis
