Cub Scouts Pack 1: Coming Events
Cub Scouts Pack 1 welcomes all children K–5 to join Scouting!
Pack 1 is based here in Wilmette and is made up of all the Cub Scouts at McKenzie Elementary School, as well as Scouts from other area schools. Our Scouts do activities as a group that teach them useful life skills and citizenship while having a blast and building friendships. In addition, Scouts participate in monthly den meetings where they engage in fun activities and learn new skills to earn merit badges that build toward achieving new ranks in Scouting.
If you’re curious about Scouting, we invite you to any of several great events we have coming up:
August 24: Paddling at Skokie Lagoon! Enjoy a late-afternoon paddle exploring the lagoon from the best seat on the water.
September 6: Scout Jamboree! It’s a big sampler platter of many of the things that make Scouting so much fun. Held at Central Park 1–3pm on Saturday, September 6, you can take part in a wide variety of activities, including Air Rockets, Soapbox Derby Cars, Bracelet Making, Rope Bridge, Fire Building, Tent and Canoe Setup, Log Splitting, Nail Hammering, Outdoor Games, and more!
September 12: Gillson Scavenger Hunt! An after-school scavenger hunt and social at Gillson Park. Groups will be tasked with solving riddles to find and collect physical clues throughout the park. Once all the clues are collected the groups are tasked with matching clues with preselected historical figures. The winning group will arrange the most number of correct clues in the shortest time.
September 27–28: Fall Campout! Held at Camp Crown in Trevor, WI (near Wilmot), this is low-effort camping with food and activities provided. Optional Yerkes Observatory tour the morning of the 27th.
October 5: Cubmobile! Scouts and their friends get to drive gravity-propelled cars (a variation of the soap box derby) for fun and bragging rights. Evanston.
